What is market research and why join research-i?

Market research has come a long way since the days of clipboards and questionnaire completions on the street. Whilst that method certainly still has its place in the sector, database-driven recruitment has very much challenged those ‘traditional’ methods over the past 15 years or so.

research-i was launched in July 2017 by a small but highly experienced and enthusiastic team of research participant recruiters.

So, what does research-i do exactly and why should you be interested? Well, firstly it’s a fact – everyone has an opinion on something. Some more strongly than others, but we all care about products and services that we use in our day to day lives, or have an interest in using in the future. The whole point of market research is that the consumer (you!) gets to have their say and have a genuine influence on tomorrow’s world.

Let’s think of some examples. Pick up your phone right now and take a look at it. Feel it in your hand. Is it made of metal or plastic? Does it have external buttons or is the screen completely touch-sensitive? What colour is it? Look at the apps you have installed and consider the countless thousands you are able to download at the touch of a button.

Everything you have just felt, looked at and thought about is the result of countless hours of market research between the designers, manufacturers and people like yourself, who ultimately decide to purchase it. This is one example but every single product you see on a shelf, every website you browse, every game you play, every service you use has gone through the same vigorous level of testing and research before making it available to the public.  

Companies know the importance of hearing the bad feedback as well as the good so they can improve and this is where research-i comes in.

We are passionate about what we do. We want as many people as possible, from all walks of life, all ethnicities, genders, social status, ages, etc. to be given the opportunity to have their say. But of course, your valuable input doesn’t come for free. Our clients truly value what you have to say and how you can help them improve their products and services. Your time will be rewarded every time you are chosen to take part in a research project. It could be £40 or £400 – every project is different; every client needs something specific, but most importantly we all need you.

At the heart of market research, and indeed research-i, is a sense of community. We all live in the same world and we all want the very best we can have for ourselves and each other. The only way to have an impact is by being given a voice and ensuring you are heard by those that create the things we use and take for granted.
